Driving record breaking ticket sales
As part of their ongoing commitment to the women’s game, Harlequins Rugby Club hosts The Game Changer, an annual celebration of women’s rugby. Each year the club aims to break the record for the highest attendance at a women’s club rugby match in the UK to highlight the growing popularity of women’s sport.
With just 400 tickets sold and the game 4 weeks away, Promote was appointed to worked alongside the communications team at Harlequins to generate national media coverage and engage influencers and stakeholders with the ultimate aim of driving ticket sales.
With targeted press activity and a media event at The Stoop we drove strong support for The Game Changer from key media including BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4, talkSPORT, The Guardian, Mail Online, Press Association and Metro.
Our activity also involved targeting relevant high-profile influencers and stakeholders to offer free tickets to The Game Changer and requesting social media support pre-event. We secured social media support from Chrissie Wellington MBE and Paul Morgan, Communications Director at Premiership Rugby, as well as support from London based lifestyle influencers Flora Beverley and Sophie Hellyer.
In addition, Promote shared news of the game across our social media channels, with Sue’s LinkedIn posts gaining 7,750 combined views.
As a result of our activity, Harlequins broke the record for the highest number of attendees at a women’s club rugby game in the UK, with 4,837 ticket issued.
