Driving ticket sales and maximising awareness for the FINA World Diving Series
British Swimming secured a major coup in 2019 with the opportunity to host the final leg of the prestigious FINA World Diving Series at the London Aquatics Centre, the first time it had been hosted in the UK since 2015.
Attracting the best athletes from across the world, British Swimming needed to maximise awareness for the event as well as drive ticket sales to six sessions across three days of competition.
Appointed with under two months to go until the event, we had a short time frame to organise a media event and secure coverage in top tier media. The team hosted a preview day with athletes Matty Lee and Grace Reid, utilising our strong media contacts to attract attendees from the likes of the Guardian, Press Association and BBC London.
This was supported by a roundtable phone interview with Tom Daley, securing national coverage with the Daily Telegraph, i newspaper, Evening Standard, Capital FM, Heart FM and BBC Sport.
Our activity led to a total of 283 pieces of pre-event coverage for the FINA World Diving Series, including the key call to action of purchasing tickets for the event. This resulted in two sold out sessions and near sell-outs across the rest of the event.
