Windsor Running Festival

Posted 25.09.2017

The team were kept busy this weekend at the Windsor Running Festival with both the Boudavida Women’s 10k and the Meridian Windsor Half Marathon.

The thousands of runners were blessed with wonderful weather all weekend.

For the past two years Boudavida has been the title sponsor of the Boudavida Women’s 10K, which takes place in the stunning Great Park in Windsor and finishes on The Long Walk in front of Windsor Castle.

This year saw around 1,000 women take part including all ages and abilities.

We were so proud when 9 of the local ladies in our ‘This Girl Can Run 10k’ team completed their first ever 10K.

There was an amazing feeling of comradery in the air, with the women supporting each other over the finish line, often with massive smiles and hand-in-hand.

Boudavida used the event as the perfect place to launch their new Autumn / Winter 17 collection, and it was great to see how many women fell in love with the new clothes.

On Sunday, we were back for round two of the festival, with the Meridian sponsored Half Marathon. With almost 6,000 runners taking part, the Great Park was a hive of activity. With the 13.1 mile race starting and finishing on The Long Walk, runners could see the impressive site of Windsor Castle as they ran towards the finish line.

The Meridian team were on hand to provide essential post-race refuelling, with samples of their delicious nut butters. Each runner was also given a nut bar in their race goody bags, and we saw a lot of happy and satisfied faces tucking into them once they had crossed the finish line.

Thirty Meridian staff took part in the run itself – talk about teamwork and team bonding! Emma and Sue were on hand to cheer them on at mile six and cheer them home too.

All in all, it was an excellent weekend and we enjoyed seeing everyone triumph in their success as they crossed the finish line at both events.
