Children go wild for basketball at Slam Jam launch
To celebrate the launch of Slam Jam, Basketball England’s revolutionary new initiative to get more 7-11-year olds playing basketball, we held a media day with several Basketball England players and coaches.
Hosted at St Francis RC Primary School in Manchester, media were introduced to a Slam Jam session in which the coaches showcased a range of activities that focused on developing the children’s physical literacy skills including throwing, catching and jumping.
Media held interviews with Basketball England players, Slam Jam coaches and pupils where they spoke about the benefits of the programme and how much fun you can have when playing basketball.
We enjoyed a great day in Manchester with guests including CBBC Newsround who will be putting together a fun and interactive piece featuring pupils from St Francis Primary School and Basketball England players including Georgia Jones and Kofi Joseph.

Early media coverage has already led to a spike in further interested delivery partners for Slam Jam and we’re looking forward to seeing Slam Jam introduce thousands of kids to basketball!
