SIBEC Europe 2018
Last week, Sue, Nas and Ruth were in Marrakech, Morocco for SIBEC Europe, a leisure industry conference that facilitates a number of face-to-face business meeting across two days.
To kick off proceedings on day one of the conference, Alan Chambers MBE, a former marine turned extreme explorer, gave a captivating keynote presentation, detailing his polar expedition from Canada to the geographic North Pole, leading the first British team to complete the journey without any support services.
Many SIBEC delegates reported that they took away many key learnings from Alan’s amazing account of his challenge:
1. Attitude wins over experience
2. The importance of meticulous planning should never be underestimated
3. Break down one big project into several mini projects
4. Question conventional thinking
5. Make time to talk to your colleagues
The SIBEC event brings together major operators to meet with key leading national and international suppliers in a ‘speed-dating’ style setting. As the industry’s premier meeting event, it provides the ideal forum to do business and explore new partnerships.
As well as the more formal one-to-one meetings, the event is also invaluable for its networking opportunities, allowing attendees to forge new friendships and cement old ones.
For many, the highlight of this year’s event was the traditional Moroccan themed dinner in the desert. The evening’s entertainment included fire performers, acrobats and a celebrity-style red carpet.
SIBEC Europe 2019 will be heading to The Westin Dragonara Resort, St. Julians, Malta, from 5-8 November. To secure your place, visit: www.sibeceu.com.
