Project Rugby Mixed Disability Festival

Posted 31.01.2019

We had a fantastic time yesterday evening at Premiership Rugby’s Project Rugby Mixed Disability Festival held at Allianz Park, home of Saracens Rugby.

Tom J worked to capture engaging content which will be used to showcase  how the sport-for-development initiative uses rugby as a tool for social change.

The festival comprised of a round-robin tournament whereby five community rugby teams were invited to play against each other, followed by a social gathering in the Allianz Park’s hospitality function room.

Project Rugby is a joint initiative between Premiership Rugby and England Rugby designed to increase participation in the game by people from traditionally underrepresented groups, including:

  • Black Asian & Minority Ethnic People
  • People from Lower Socio-Economic backgrounds
  • Disabled People

The programme engages thousands of participants per year and is delivered by community staff from Premiership Rugby’s fourteen shareholder clubs at over 200 locations across England, providing accessible opportunities for people to participate in rugby at a time and place that can be easily access by target audiences.
