We head to the National Running Show
Emma and Sue had a fantastic weekend at the National Running Show in Birmingham. Not only did we see lots of familiar faces such as Polar, England Athletics and England Athletics’ RunTogether, but we got to meet lots of new faces. We turned up in our funky new Tikiboo x London Landmarks leggings, and got lots of lovely compliments. Emma got stopped near the end of the show by two women who said they had recently bought the exact same pair, to celebrate London Landmarks 2020 being their first ever half marathon. We wish them all the best!
With over 27,000 people expected to attend over the course of the weekend, it was certainly full of hustle and bustle. At times it was sometimes hard to make your way down the aisles! There was a great spread of exhibitors, crossing over running apparel and trainers, wearable tech, nutrition and running events. There were also some fantastic speakers, with names such as Susie Chan, Anna McNuff, Steve Cram and Sally Gunnell hosting talks. Emma particularly enjoyed the Running Skills Theatre, especially the Pacing Yourself talk by Paul Addicott, so she can’t wait to apply this to her own training.
The day’s activities continued on into the evening as we were invited by the Event Director to join them at the National Running Show Networking Dinner. Now this really was excellent – a room of over 400 running enthusiasts chatting over a delicious 3-course dinner. Again, we saw lots of familiar faces and had the chance to chat to some new ones. We ended up being sat next to record-breaking ultra running legend Camille Herron – she had some great stories about the records she managed to smash over the years!
All in all it was a really great weekend, and it really reinforced our passion for the running sector. For the first time this year, the National Running Show will be coming to London in June (13 & 14th) so we would highly recommend a visit!
