Harlequins appoint Promote
Celebrations in the office today as Harlequin FC has re-appointed us to drive attendance to ‘The Game Changer’, its pioneering fixture which once again aims to break the Club’s own record for the biggest crowd ever to watch a women’s club rugby game. This year The Game Changer will see Harlequins Women take on London rivals Wasps FC Ladies at The Stoop on Saturday April 11.
We worked with Harlequins last year to attract over 4,800 spectators to watch their Tyrrells Premier 15s match against Gloucester Hartpury Women, which broke the UK club record for a women’s club match at the time.
The Game Changer is the platform where ‘Heroes make History’ – the perfect stage to showcase the heroic exploits of Harlequins Women’s players and coaches both on and off the field. On top of a gruelling and intense rugby schedule, many of the Club’s squad members manage their playing career alongside full-time employment with the women working as firefighters, soldiers, teachers and business leaders. Karen Findlay, the squad’s co-Head Coach, is also a Chief Superintendent with the Metropolitan Police (and previous guest on our own Game Changers podcast).
Commenting on the appointment of Promote, Harlequins’ Chief Marketing Officer Adrian Wells said: “It’s very clear that Promote’s passion and knowledge of women’s sport is unparalleled within the sector. They understand our wider ambition to drive parity in women’s sport and delivered a pitch that included a creative and compelling narrative for The Game Changer event this year. We very much look forward to working with Sue and her experienced team in the months ahead.”
This year, The Game Changer event follows two other key women’s rugby fixtures at The Stoop, with England vs Wales in the Women’s Six Nations on March 7 (kick off 12.15) and Harlequins Women vs Loughborough Lightning on March 28.
