FIBO 2019

Posted 23.04.2019

This year, Sue and Leandra headed to Cologne to attend FIBO, the world’s biggest business platform for the fitness sector.

With 10 halls and 1000s of exhibitors, the Promote team were excited for a few days of networking, meeting agency friends plus walking the halls to discover the latest products the industry has to offer.

Watch here to see some of our favourite moments from the show this year.

Sue attended the European Health & Fitness Forum as a guest of EuropeActive’s CEO Nathalie Smeeman. The event was used as a platform to discuss equality, diversity and inclusivity in the industry with powerful opening speeches from Nathalie and Emma Barry through to Herman Rutgers closing statements.

As a UK council member for WIFA (Women in Fitness Association), Sue will be working with EuropeActive and FIBO to create a more balanced line up for 2020.

UK Active hosted their annual dinner on Thursday night. This year, members were treated to a river boat cruise on the MS Loreley. A fantastic soiree as always, the industry enjoyed a night of food and drink before heading to an old haunt of Cologne’s cobbled streets… the Irish bar!

After a jammed packed first day at the show plus a night of socialising, we were delighted to visit the Theragun stand where we enjoyed some welcome pain relief and energised our muscles.

Theragun is trusted by 250+ professional sports teams in North America, Europe, and Asia, world-renowned trainers, physical therapists, and chiropractors – and consumers in 40+ countries.

We were also intrigued to defy gravity with the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill™.

An unusual feeling, the treadmill uses a pressurized air chamber to reduce gravitational load and body weight.  AlterG enables patients and athletes to move unrestricted and pain-free – restoring and building muscle strength, range of motion, balance, function, and fitness.

The hall for group exercise was busy as ever with Salsation® putting on a fantastic display of their class. Attendees were all hooked by the infectious beat and rhythm with people stopping in their tracks to film and join in the fun.

As in previous years, rebounding classes were still popular with several brands offering a high intensity workout whilst jumping to the beat of the music.

We also came Bungee Super Fly, a class based in the Netherlands. The exhilarating feeling of defying gravity whilst getting an intense full body workout.

Bungee workouts have just launched in the UK are we are keen to see how this type of class takes off here.

There were several imitation activewear brands at the show however not all were of the highest quality.

Under Armour on the other hand launched their newest range Rush. Designed to help athletes reach their full potential, the fabric reflects energy back into your tissues and muscles resulting in increased strength and endurance.

As always, we will be excited to visit FIBO next year to see what the industry has to offer.
