British Rowing Forum

Posted 08.11.2018

On the 7th November, we were invited to attend British Rowing’s Indoor Rowing Industry Forum amongst other industry attendees from the likes of Concept 2, Water Rowing, Cancer Research UK and Women in Sport.

We were delighted to hear that there has already been a significant growth in Indoor Rowing in the last year alone, through campaigns such as the pilot Indoor Rowing club schemes and the current #SheRows campaign. Some great stats included:

  • 9% increase in the Indoor Rowing website page views compared to the same period in 2017 (43,544 total Go Row Indoor website views between April – October 2018)
  • 193 new Indoor Rowing instructors trained since 2017
  • The Go Row Indoor 20 minute workout class had been viewed 178,000 in the last year
  • 484 new people have attended one of the three pilot club class sessions between May and September 2018

We also had the chance to listen to some great talks, including Women in Sport’s latest research into the impact of menopause on a woman’s relationship with sport and fitness.

The Industry Forum concluded with an insightful panel discussion into the emerging focus on adaptive rowing. One of the panellists included Double Invictus Games Gold Medallist Mark Ormerod, who is a triple amputee following his duties as a marine in 2017. He was able to provide an insight into how he first got into Indoor Rowing, and trained to where he is now.

We are excited to see what the future of Indoor Rowing holds for 2019!
