Apprenticeships in Sports and Physical Activity 2016
On Tuesday morning Hayley attended ukactive’s Apprenticeships in Sports and Physical Activity 2016 event, which took place at City Hall, London.
She recalls: The proceedings hosted by ukactive’s Steven Ward, kicked off with a scene setting opening from Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, shortly followed by a talk from CIMSPA’s Chief Executive, Tara Dillon about the sector’s Trailblazer standards.
The employers themselves then took to the floor, joined by apprentice case studies – GLL’s Head of GLL College, Mac Cleves and SCL’s Managing Director, Lewis Field both discussed the many benefits of hiring apprentices.
The session ended with the Director of Apprenticeships at the Skills Funding Agency, Sue Husband giving an interesting overview of the recent apprenticeship levy and covering its implications for employers in the physical activity sector.
Overall it was an interesting, engaging morning that saw industry figureheads discussing the value of apprenticeships’– ukactive’s breakfast spread didn’t disappoint either!
