Amelia tackles the London Marathon

Posted 24.04.2016

Last weekend saw our dear colleague Amelia, tackle her biggest challenge yet – the formidable, London Marathon!

Being a keen hockey player, with very little long distance running experience, and only finding out she had been offered a place 3 months prior, meant this was no mean feat for Amelia! However after several weeks of training, she headed out to Greenwich on what was a very fine Sunday morning indeed to run 26.2 miles.

Describing it as ‘one of the most amazing / extreme / incredible / difficult things’ she’s ever done, Amelia completed the race (just about!) in a respectable 5 hours, 31 minutes and 26 seconds and credits the wonderful support from friends, family and strangers alike that kept her running for that long. Who knew a couple of jelly beans from a child and a very enthusiastic lady yelling at her through a megaphone would be so encouraging!

Having raised over £2,000 for Cancer Research UK, Amelia took a well earned day off on Monday and celebrated with some family sized portions of food!
