Changing The Visual Landscape Of Women's Sport

This week saw the Promote team head over to the BBC Studios in London to help our dear friends at the Women’s Sport Trust with the 'Changing the visual landscape of women's sport' event.

Sue and Amelia provided social media support throughout the evening as athletes, broadcasters, photographers and key influencers in women's sport came together to examine the ways in which the media has historically portrayed females in sport.

The night culminated in the announcement that Getty Images, a world leader in visual communications had partnered with the Women’s Sport Trust to increase the visibility of female athletes and women’s sports, whilst also challenging the way in which female athletes are portrayed in imagery.

A collection of images will be made available free of charge to schools, universities and not-for profit organisations to promote the powerful depiction of women and girls in sports to the broadest audience possible.

The evening, held during Women's Sport Week 2016, was a huge success and the team's promotion on social media reached an audience of over 5M, so job well done indeed.
