Scaling up TeamUp in London
Last week, we were at Wembley Stadium to help launch an innovative new partnership between TeamUp and Wembley National Stadium Trust (WNST), with the latter investing nearly £700,000 to scale up and enhance the TeamUp offer in London schools.
The event celebrated the important role that inspirational PE teachers play in encouraging girls to play sport in schools, and aimed to highlight the important life skills team sport can give young people.
We hosted PE teachers, VIPs from the sporting world and current and ex-England international athletes from cricket, hockey and netball.
Hosted by Jane Dougall of Sky, the first panel of the night discussed the details of the partnership and was made up of Clare Connor, Director of Women’s Cricket at ECB, Sally Munday, CEO of England Hockey, Joanna Adams, CEO of England Netball and Stewart Goshawk, CEO of WNST.
The second panel, to highlight the influence of their own PE teachers, and what team sports did for them, included ex-England Cricket international and current Director of Women’s Cricket at Surrey County Cricket club, Ebony Rainford-Brent, England Hockey international Zoe Shipperley and England Netball U20 international Georgina Fisher.
