Getting in Alpha brain mode at SIBEC UK
This week Sue and Alison joined industry colleagues at SIBEC UK, which returned to the glorious setting of The Belfry to mark its 13th year. The sell-out event saw delegates enjoying a productive two days filled with meetings and great networking opportunities.
The ever-popular event started on Tuesday 23 May with a relaxed and informal golf day on the stunning Brabazon championship course, followed by a prize-giving dinner.
To officially open SIBEC UK, Kirk Vallis, Global Head of Creative Development at Google, delivered a fascinating keynote speech, giving delegates an insight into unlocking their creativity and disrupting traditional ways of thinking to get the very best out of their 20-minute meetings held across the two days.
Kirk shared some fantastic tips on how to get into Alpha-brain mode to improve performance and creativity through lateral thinking. He also outlined the importance of ‘signposting’ by creating common language and learning to be playful when approaching an issue. Delegates were also encouraged to escape traditional ‘rivers of thinking’ and how getting ‘uncomfortably excited’ can turn a potentially challenging situation into a positive outcome.
Inspired by Kirk’s fascinating presentation about human creativity in a digital world, SIBEC UK delegates lost no time in putting this new-found knowledge into action including Sue and Alison, who channelled their inner Alpha brain with a ‘relaxed but focused’ meeting at the hotel bar!
