Track and technique

A running technique assessment with Purple Patch provided the perfect mixture of learning and laughs for the Promote team. Starting with a warm up jog around the track, the first quote of the night arose from Scarlett: “Is this track really 400m?!”

The team went on to be filmed individually and their running style analysed – a daunting prospect for all. This is when Kate tried to soften the blow and declared: “I should’ve brought my spikes.” Next came the expert comment from Purple Patch’s Chris and Claire on what we were doing well… and not so well.

To be taught correct running form and technique, the team were led through a brilliant set of drills and reminded that when completing these, it is all about quality, not quantity or speed, that counts (something James and Scarlett and their competitive streaks struggled with).

Thanks to Chris and Claire for an excellent evening. We all felt our running technique had improved by the end of the session and we promise to work hard on our drills!
