Stand down Bertha, 24,000 cyclists coming through!
Nicki braved the thunder and torrential rain on Sunday morning joining the Hampton Court Fuel Hub volunteers for the Prudential Ride London Surrey 100. With mountains of bananas, haribos, energy sachets and Belvitas ready and waiting, the first riders arrived at 7am, and with them came the rain! The heavens opened, roads became rivers but spirits remained high amongst the riders, marshals and volunteers.
With crack of dawn announcements from Hugh Brasher removing 14 miles of the course and the leg-testing climbs of Box Hill, the riders took on 86 miles of closed roads through Surrey and the Capital. By the afternoon, thankfully the sunshine was pouring through to welcome the finishers across the line at The Mall. A huge achievement for every single cyclist!
