Heather Knight passes World Cup baton to Alex Danson

Yesterday Ruth and Olivia were at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, facilitating and capturing content of the passing on of the World Cup baton from the England Cricket women’s captain, Heather Knight, to England Hockey women’s captain, Alex Danson as part of the TeamUp initiative.

The day was action-packed from start to finish. Heather and Alex gave a series of brilliant interviews with The Daily Telegraph, ITV Meridian and BBC GNS, which syndicated 11 regional radio interviews. The athletes discussed the rise of women’s sport, shared valuable insight into tournament preparations and how to inspire the next generation.

We were also joined by youngsters from Trojans Hockey Club, who were treated to a hockey session followed by a Q&A with Alex and Heather.

All the content captured focused on TeamUp, a three-year campaign developed by England & Wales Cricket Board, England Hockey and England Netball to maximise the legacy of three consecutive home women’s World Cups (2017-2019), build a fan base for women’s team sports and inspire future generations.

With the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup just finished, TeamUp’s attention now shifts to the 2018 Hockey World Cup in London where England Hockey will hope to emulate the success of the cricketers.
