Claire's GB medal haul
We'd like to say a massive congratulations to Purple Patch Running's very own Claire Donald, who was awarded three silver medals, as well as achieving a team gold and silver with her teammates, as she represented Great Britain at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Lyon, France.
Claire stormed ahead in her first event on 4th August, taking silver in the Female’s 55+ category cross country and completing the 8K distance in a time of 31 minutes 14 seconds, just six seconds behind the winner. Not only winning silver individually, Claire and her two GB teammates accomplished silver in this event with their combined times.
Next came the 10K distance on the 10th August, where runners had to complete the distance on the track. Again Claire claimed silver in her category and finished in an impressive 38:36. After a few days rest and a chance to re-fuel, Claire and her teammates prepared for the half marathon distance that took place on 16th August. Not one to disappoint, Claire got her hat-trick silver medal in this event and aided her team to take home gold!
Claire is truly passionate about running for competition, fitness and just for pure enjoyment. She and her husband Chris co-direct Purple Patch Running, and their next event is the Maidenhead Half Marathon on Sunday 6th September 2015. To find out more, please visit: www.purplepatchrunning.com
