Promote Hits FIBO 2015
Earlier this month, Sue, Alison, Nicky and Scarlett, headed to Cologne for a three day trip to international fitness convention FIBO 2015 and the opportunity of catching up with clients and media to discover the latest innovations. The trade show for fitness, wellness and health, celebrated its 30th anniversary and this year’s event proved to be a real spectacle.
After flying in late Wednesday afternoon, we spent a wonderful evening in the company of clients and industry friends for a pre-show dinner at Sorgenfrei. The small gem of a traditional German restaurant didn’t disappoint.
Everyone enjoyed the excellent cuisine and great hospitality thanks to the restaurant’s firm but fair head waitress who kept the lively crowd of Brits and Aussies entertained. The evening didn’t end there as a small group of hardy individuals met up with the lovely team from Life Fitness at the Marriott hotel bar for a night cap.
Early on Thursday morning we joined the throng of over 100,000 international visitors who descended on the gargantuan Koelnmesse Convention Centre. After getting our bearings and navigating around 10 different halls housing over 700 exhibitors, there was no time to be lost in meeting up with clients including TRX, Wattbike and Life Fitness to check out their impressive stands and see their latest products in action.
Nicky and Scarlett couldn’t resist jumping on the Wattbike for their first workout of the day. It was also a chance to see their new digital innovations in action including the powerapp which allows users to view and analyse their workouts on iPhone and Android mobile devices.
Over at the Life Fitness stand, an impressive display from the Education Team expertly showed the crowd how to pump up small group training with SYNRGY360 and the new RowGX trainer.
Then it was time to check out the TRX stand, an amazing beacon of yellow and black, where fitness enthusiasts instructed by master trainers worked on making their bodies into machines through TRX’s unique brand of suspension training.
After a good seven hours of walking the show floor, testing out products that caught our eye and meeting up with industry friends old and new, we headed back to the hotel to recharge batteries before our dinner date with ukactive and over 100 invited industry guests. The evening, held at Heising & Adelmann in central Cologne, provided a fantastic networking opportunity and thanks to a rousing after dinner speech by outgoing ukactive CEO David Stalker, the event proved to be a memorable one!
The last day of the show brought out the competitive side of the team with Sue leading the way at the Fit Quest stand. Taking on their four minute fitness test, Sue jumped to the top of the women’s leader board by completing 21 press ups against the clock!
Aside from a spot of retail therapy, no visit to FIBO could be complete without a visit to FIBO Power, which provides the biggest meeting point for the bodybuilding, weight training and martial arts community. It was an eye-opener for those new to FIBO but fascinating nevertheless when it comes to perfecting the body beautiful. Always on the lookout for new and talented individuals to join the team, Sue spotted three potential candidates at the show so watch this space for recruitment news!
There was more high intensity action to be had at the Escape Fitness stand, where master trainer Steve Barrett threatened to steal the show with a display showcasing all the fun of their functional playground.
FIBO 2015 proved to be a hugely enjoyable event which is growing in popularity with each passing year and we certainly hope to return next year.
