Nominate the Game Changers

Nominations for the Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChangerAwards open today, January 25, and will run for the next two weeks until February 7, 2018.

The annual #BeAGameChanger Awards, now in their fourth year, demonstrate the growth, irresistible appeal and increasing commercial value of women's sport.

The innovative Awards celebrate examples of sporting role models, leaders, journalists, broadcasters and businesses that together drive real change for women’s sport, making a powerful case for the sustained investment and coverage needed to achieve gender parity.

Telling great stories about what is going on in women’s sport is a vital catalyst for change – as Tammy Parlour, Co-Founder of the Women’s Sport Trust commented:

“We strongly encourage people to nominate those individuals and organisations they believe should be recognised for the work they are doing and the example they are setting.

“Great stories about these trailblazers are contagious and stimulate others to step up and play their part in promoting women’s sport.”

The Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChanger awards take place in London on May 24, with an audience that includes elite athletes, journalists, businesspeople, politicians, sports leaders, grassroots influencers and young people involved in sport.

The Awards highlight success stories, connect decision makers and raise the profile of inspiring sports role models.Previous winners of prestigious #BeAGameChanger’s Awards have included the likes of Nicola Adams MBE, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Clare Balding, along with organisations such as BBC Sport, parkrun UK, British Triathlon and a range of individuals and groups making an impact in the community.

Nominations this year are open across nine award categories including Sporting Role Model, Sports’ National Governing Body of the Year, Imagery of the Year, Brand / Sponsor Partnership of the Year and Inspiring Initiative. Following the initial public nomination process, awards are shortlisted by WST’s Board of Trustees with finalists in each category then selected by an Expert Panel before a public vote decides the eventual winners.

The Awards are widely recognised by brands, athletes, sports bodies and broadcasters as helping to shape the agenda for women’s sport, offering a landmark opportunity to showcase the progress being made.
