For Nicky J and Catherine it was a great day at the races on Saturday, the Reebok Spartan race that is! On May 16,
Spartan brought its first ever stadium-based obstacle course race to the Allianz Park Stadium, home of the Saracens Rugby team.
The 5km sprint route held 15 obstacles set to test the strength, agility and mental toughness of the thousands of Spartans lining the stadium.
Special shout-outs to our Run247 and Trek & Run media teams attending who conquered the course in record time, and are set to take their Trifecta medals this year by the completing a sprint, super and beast Spartan distance all in one season!
From barbed wire crawls, spear throws, carrying sand bags up & down the bleachers to the famous rope climb, there was a challenge to catch everyone out - forcing them to perform 30 burpees punishment!
Not content to watch everyone else having all the fun, at the end of the day Nicky and Catherine laced up their trainers, donned the Spartan headband and headed to the start line to put themselves through their paces!
Storming round the course, Catherine’s running prowess came into place, overtaking people left, right and centre while Nicky surprised herself, and everyone watching, by hitting the bulls-eye on the spear throw! A sprint finish for the girls, they’re now completely hooked and will be heading to take on their first Trifecta later this year! AROO
