11 points with newly crowned womens World Squash Champion, Laura Massaro By Scarlett Smith

Just over two weeks ago Laura Massaro’s lifelong dream became a reality, the 30-year-old held her nerve in the deciding game of the World Squash Championship final to become the first English woman in fifteen years to be crowned World Champion.

The win also propelled the Preston based player into the history books as she became the first British woman to hold both the world title and British Open title simultaneously.

What followed was a whirlwind of media commitments including interviews with BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio 5 Live and even being asked to lip-sync Take That on Blue Peter. Luckily the world no.2 was able to spare me a few minutes as I caught up with her at her home club in Chorley, Lancashire a few days after her momentous win in Penang.laura_massaro2
